Derrick Adams, Feed Them with a Long Spoon
Derrick Adams, Feed Them with a Long Spoon, limited edition Archival pigment prints were produced by Third Streaming in conjunction with the performance by the same name presented on November 11, 2010.
This performance pays homage to the ritualistic American pastime of watching TV while breaking bread. The title of the performance borrows from an old southern saying, "feed them with a long handled spoon" which implies staying connected but with cautionary distance. The live performance was set to a 30-minute video projection that contains five 2-minute intervals of random channel surfing between four 5-minute audio-only tracks of collected footage from a soap opera and family sitcoms aired in the 70's 80's and 90's. During the projection the artist is joined live by dinner guest Vanessa Riding and graciously served a four-course meal by Irwin Smith Jr.
